Fox News Radio host Guy Benson has been watching Alzheimer’s shape his family for most of his life. Both of his mother’s parents were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. His mother received her own diagnosis in her mid-60s and is now in the middle stage of the disease. For years he stayed quiet publicly, until he learned his mother didn’t just approve of him speaking up, she wanted him to. In a recent appearance on the Ahead of Alzheimer’s podcast, Benson opened up about the disease, his family, and his own fears about what his family history could mean for his future. Parade covered the conversation in full. Read the full story here → | Watch the full podcast episode here →

From Parade, via Yahoo Entertainment:

“The bravery is hers. It’s her life, it’s her affliction.”

“Your body failing you is one thing. Your mind failing you is kind of you, the essence of you.”

“We’re muddling through in a way that has been tough, but beautiful.”

“This affects and touches so many families. I just think we all need to link arms and work together so that in the future, we can look back and say, ‘Look at this thing we’ve eradicated.’”

Alzheimer’s touches far more families than ever speak about it. Benson’s conversation on the Ahead of Alzheimer’s podcast is a step toward changing that. Read the full story in Parade and watch the full podcast episode here.
